Hardy opened the show as usual, followed by Shine, with some eclectic tunes from all genres and originating from all geographical locations…!
It’s always a special evening when it’s a Patron’s Night! For those who are not aware – we are lucky to have Herbie Flowers as the Patron of The Thursday Night Show! He’s played as a session musician on hundreds of tracks over the years. He played bass on Bowie’s Space Oddity. He invented that famous bass-line on Lou Reed’s ‘Walk on the Wild Side’!
So every month or so, a group of musicians - all friends of Herbie – gather together and play live at some random venue. A music shop; a pub; a cafe – even on the beach!
This week, they played from the Big Beach Cafe in Brighton! There were lots of acts; Ditchling Rise, Sonic Summer Pudding, The Song Box Band, Jim McCormick, All folked Up, Robyn Vincent… Engineered by our own Doom, and photographed by Whispers, too – so that pics of the session could appear on the canvass in real time!
It was a wonderful evening of music! If you didn’t make this one live, it’s on Mixcloud to listen back! (And make sure you get in for the next one!)
D1 found himself with a tough act to follow this week! Ha! He played unusual covers of well-known tunes! Some really interesting pieces of music… He always finds tunes that are surprising, but this week had the added dimension of being familiar as well!
And then Gadget went crazy with his Trance show – upping the BPM to 200+ !!! He left Trance behind within a couple of tracks – and took us to the realms of Hardcore and far beyond! It was so much fun!
Do join us next week if you can - and log in to the chatroom too! We love to hear from you! All the DJs are there - happy to answer questions about their shows. And to talk silly nonsense as well!
All the best everyone!
